Your dog like my Louis Vuitton

Today as I was in the park with Brady the dog a Korean lady approaches me and points out to the fact that my dog looks like her Louis Vuitton [probably a fake] handbag. She then started starring - I'm like, "dude, take a picture" I didn't know if she was thinking how fabulous he would look next to her and her LV purse or how fabulous he would look accompanied by a side order of fries and Kimchi for lunch. [unfortunately no joke here]

I'm thinking Brady would look so fabulous with an LV scarf... Louis V here I come!

South Korean Bombardment Drill

Today, on my way to the supermarket - in a cab - in preparation fever for our fantastic dinner party tonight, I was caught in a mid-traffic South Korean Bombardment Drill [sorry guys.. couldn't find anything on wiki] you know.. in case "the bad, axis of evil North" decides to bombard the "Good" South Korean capital.

The drill consists of a standstill in traffic - anywhere you are - be it in a car, cab in my case or on foot.. SURREAL to say the least. One of the busiest cities in the world - paused, completely. The emergency air raid sirens feel like they're ringing inside the taxi. I, of course, had no idea of what was going on. Tried to ask the ever so impolite taxi driver.. and he simply looks at me in an empty gaze - peaceful yet disturbing.

In all honesty.. I was kinda - sorta scared. But thought if it would be a real air raid that the people would be running in havoc not peacefully looking into thin air as if something would magically pop out it - you never know.

Reality kicked in -

"Hey buddy, you think you can turn the meter off there"

.. it's dirt cheap to use taxi's here but it was the principal of not moving for half an hour that finally got to me. He, to my astonishment did.

Long story short.. Got to the super alive.

Everyday's an adventure.

Gotta go, scallops unfortunately don't cook themselves.

David ist in der Stadt

Bisher habe ich es ja noch nicht erwähnt , aber ich habe einen richtig guten Blick von meinem Büro aus. Ich sehe direkt auf einen kleinen Fluss, den Cheonggyechenno und die angrenzende Cheonggyecheno Plaza. Die Plaza wird immer wieder für verschiedene Events benutz, und seit gestern wurde heftig an einem neuen Event gebaut. Das einzige was es zu erkennen gab, war ein grünes Feld und ein paar schwarze Zelte.
Als ich heute morgen ins Büro kam war alles fertig und das Rätsel war gelöst.
Adidas hatte ein Streetsoccer Feld aufgebaut und ich erinnerte mich dann heute Morgen auch daran, dass die ganze Zeit schon Plakate und von Adidas und der Werbeikone David Beckham in der Stadt hängen.
Als ich heute dann vom Mittagessen komme. Riesen Spektakel in meinem Buero. Fünf meiner koreanischen Kolleginnen standen am Fenster und waren total aufgeregt.
Auf meine Nachfrage, was es denn so interessantes zu sehen gibt, bekam ich neben aufgeregtem gekichere nur eine kurze aber aussagekräftige Antwort.„David Beckham“ Auch ich schaue aus dem Fenster, sehe eine Person ganz in Weiß auf dem Soccerfeld. Mein Blick schweift auf den Riesenbildschirm, der neben dem Spielfeld aufgebaut ist. Und ja, er ist es, David Beckham, in Seoul und ich kann ihn von meinem Bürofenster aus sehen. Irgendwie ist mir das in Muenchen noch nie passiert. Frau Beckham waere mir, vom niederen Instikt nach Gossip getrieben zwar lieber gewesen, aber zur Not ist er ja auch einen Blick wert. OK vielleicht auch Zwei. Sorry !
